No policy paper yet on RON95 subsidy rationalisation, says PM

PARLIAMENT | Putrajaya has yet to finalise its subsidy rationalisation plan for RON95 petrol, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat this morning, he said the government still does not have a policy paper for “quick implementation” of targeted petrol subsidies.

Instead, he said the government wants to monitor the impact of recently introduced targeted subsidies for electricity, chicken, and diesel first.

“There has been a study on this (petrol subsidy rationalisation), but I believe it is better that we monitor first the ones that we have implemented, namely (the targeted subsidies) for electricity, chicken, and diesel.

“We have started for these three, so we want to look at their impact and the rakyat’s reaction.

“Only after that we will be ready to discuss,” he said. - Mkini
